Philosophy of Nature!
How many of you know ‘getting to philosophy’ phenomenon in Wikipedia? Okay let me explain. Pick a Wikipedia article out of a random choice or your favorite topic. Click the first link, non italicized or not in parentheses in the main body, and repeat the process for subsequent articles, 97% of the time leads to the Philosophy article. It literally ends with Philosophy. Why is this happening? It was not intentional but, is mainly due to the certain writing style used to structure any Wikipedia article. We all are familiar with the why? Why? Or 5 why analysis. But here it basically works on what? What? context. If you keep asking what for every definition, you will slowly enter into the existence related terms and finally it ends up with philosophy. Alternatively, you can say that the roots of all definition lie in philosophies.
Prior to Aristotle at about 1BC, the term science did not
exist. Everything is seen and accepted as Philosophy of nature or natural
philosophy. Only after his period the terms physics and metaphysics parted out.
The theories of physics or modern science are evolved based off evidence or
proof. Anything beyond it are called as metaphysics. To put it in perspective,
if we consider the modern science as a small pond, the metaphysics is an ocean.
Those who have seen an ocean will able to appreciate its existence. If we are
like a fish in a pond, all we know is just the pond. But it doesn’t mean that
ocean does not exist.
We will take one such examples, analyze and try to make some
sense out of it in real life situation. Let us consider a simple example for
the sake of time constrain. We will start with an atom. We all know the
structure of an atom, right? it has a cage called nucleus, which contains protons
(positively charged) and neutrons (no charge). The outer orbit consists the
electrons (negatively charged). All the
atoms have equal number of protons and electrons. The key is equal, but not the
same. Protons forms the core and its primary function is to provide the
stability. Electors remains in orbit around the nucleus and always look for
attraction or bonding with another atom. The free electron on the orbit,
combines with an atom of similar or dissimilar element to form a compound.
Sivam illayel Sakthi
illai. Sakthi illayel sivam illai. Siva does not exist without sakthi and vice
versa. Sakthi literally translates as energy and siva is a substance or a
medium. If both exists in silos there is no movement. It just exists like a
jadam. Energy needs medium and medium needs energy, only then there is a
movement and then there is a flow of energy. In simple terms, a man provides
the stability to the family and women bring in a life to it. No one is above or
below each other. They are equal, but not the same. The concept of arthanari
clearly explained, siva and Sakthi are equal, but not the same.
In the modern society, we do & talk lot about women
empowerment and gender diversity. Don’t get me wrong, I am strong supporter of
gender diversity and women empowerment. But the question I have is, are we
understanding this basic difference between men & women? We always compare
a women’s success with a men. A parent proudly says, I have brought up my
daughter as a boy. Why? A girl proudly says, I have outperformed a man in
certain functional area. And the crowd cheers & applause. Why? Are we not
going against the law of nature? In my opinion, we as a society have set a
wrong baseline for women’s success. I would like to close this discussion at
this subtle level and leave it to you for further analysis and realization. Understand
a man as a man and a woman as a woman. I would like to live in a society where
a woman wins as a woman, not as a man!
